Wow....is July over already!

July has been a month full of happenings! As the weather heats up so does the social scene! Here's a quick review of the some the events and of course the venues I've perused this month....

Washingtonian Magazine hosted its annual BEST OF Washington Party on Tuesday, July 8th at the National Building Museum. Cue the violin music and typical DC crowd..right? WRONG! I was pleasantly surprise to find that the vibe was very cool and not at all pretentious.

This party was fantastic. Definitely one of the best events I've been to so far this year. The Grand Hall of the Building Museum was center stage for many of the area's hottest eateries. The decor was simple and elegant. The DJ was surprisingly excellent! I saw many a toe tapping. Your oh so lucky Guru was fortunate enough to be invited up to the VIP Reception hosted by the publishers of the Washingtonian, for some elbow rubbing with some of DC's most recognizable faces and the most delicious peach sangria ever!!! Next stop, National's Stadium. For those of you that haven't had the chance to check out this exciting new additon to DC, trust me it's worth the effort! On July 16th the DC chapter of the International Special Events Society took over the field for their July Breaker, a special evening to showcase the stadium's event spaces and catering menu. The evening started with a cocktail party in the Red Porch Restaurant. After a few livations and what seemed like a half mile stroll, we made our way to a buffet reception in the South Capitol Grille.
The food was great, although a little heavy on the meat which was a little much for this veggie loving girl. After getting full and happy I realized they weren't done with us yet! We moved on from there to a dessert buffet in the Stars and Stripes Club that would make any sweet tooth ache! I'm talking true delish. Not to be out done by the food, a few of the Nationals had a little surprise of their own, BATTING PRACTICE ON THE FIELD!!! Guests were able to come out and hit a few on the field. Such a cool experience. After all that, there was still time to light up the sky with a private fire works display.

These were definitely two of my favorite events of the year! Hopefully there will be a little time to rest up before the whirl wind of Fall!
