Cherry Blossom Fever Hits DC!

Although there is still a chill in the air, this Saturday will mark the official beginning of spring in the DC area with the start of the Cherry Blossom Festival, a two week celebration that draws more than a million admirers to the district each year. At the center of it all are thousands of blooming cherry trees along the tidal basin. The National Cherry Blossom Family Day and Opening Ceremony will take place this Saturday, March 28th at the National Building Museum. The event, sponsored by Target, will begin at 10am with Family Day activities including live entertainment, Japanese crafts, and demonstrations. The official opening ceremony starts at 4pm and will include remarks from Washington dignitaries and performances from The Washington Ballet, The Washington School of Ballet, Enka Singer Jero, and many others. Both events are free and open to the public.

In addition to daily cultural performances on the Target Tidal Basin Stage and numerous museum festivals, local vendors are preparing for the celebration and influx of visitors with fantastic deals and special experiences.

Enjoy,

Guru
