Unless you've been under a rock, you know all about the battle of the rallies taking place in the District this weekend. I will be staying clear...but if you're up for a little (hopefully) peaceful protest, here's the dish on this weekend's events straight from

Transportation:
Several roads around the Lincoln Memorial and the National Mall will be closed on Saturday for the “Restoring Honor Rally,” including 17th Street between Constitution Ave and Independence Ave, and Independence Ave from 17th Street to 23rd Street.
Be mindful of other road closures and heavy pedestrian traffic around the “Reclaim the Dream” March route, beginning at Dunbar High School (1301 New Jersey Ave. NW) and ending at the site of the MLK Memorial.
Metro riders may also experience delays of up to 30 minutes this weekend because of scheduled track maintenance work on the Red, Blue and Green Lines. Check www.metroopensdoors.com for updates.

Restoring Honor Rally
Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Jo Dee Messina, Dr. Alveda King and Marcus Luttrell are featured guests at this event benefiting the Special Operations Warrior Fund. The event is described by its organizers as a “non-political event that pays tribute to America’s service personnel and other upstanding citizens who embody our nation’s founding principles of integrity, truth and honor.”
Admission is free of charge. No tickets or pre-registration is required for individuals (buses must register in advance).
Date: Saturday, August 28
Time: Official event hours are 10 AM- 1 PM
Location: The event stage will be located on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. Several video screens and sound towers will be placed along the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and on the grounds of the Washington Monument. The closest metro stations to the Lincoln Memorial are the Foggy Bottom and Smithsonian stations.
Tour Bus Information: Buses will not be permitted to drop off their passengers at the Rally site. The closest drop-off points are RFK Stadium and Union Station. Visitors traveling by bus may connect to the Metro from either location. Event organizers are offering shuttle service for visitors with disabilities, departing from RFK Stadium.
Notes to attendees: Small umbrellas, bottled water, bag lunches, snacks, lawn chairs, cameras, blankets, small coolers, backpacks, and flags are permitted on site. A list of prohibited items, including political signs, can be viewed here.

“Reclaim the Dream Rally”
National Action Network Founder and President Rev. Al Sharpton is commemorating the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech with a march and rally.
According to NAN, participants in the rally will include Arne Duncan, Secretary, U.S. Department of Education; Martin Luther King III, President, Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Inc.; Ed Schultz, Television and radio show host; Tom Joyner, The Tom Joyner Morning Show & Reach Media; Marc Morial, President of the National Urban League; Benjamin Todd Jealous, President of NAACP; Melanie L. Campbell, President of National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and Convener of the Black Women's Roundtable; representatives from Media Matters, and many other religious groups, labor unions, and organizations.
Date: Saturday, August 28
Time: The rally will begin at 11 AM at Dunbar High School, followed by a march to the site of the King Memorial.
Location: Participants will line up for the march at Dunbar High School, beginning the march at North St. and New Jersey Ave. NW. Participants will march west on North St. to South 6th St.; from South 6th St. to Constitution Ave.; west on Constitution Ave. to 15th St.; south on 15th St. to Independence Ave.; west on independence Ave. to 23rd St. and Ohio Dr.; south on Ohio Drive to West Potomac Park; across the Polo Field to the MLK Memorial site.

Women of Faith Over the Top Event
Held in DC each August, this national touring event attracts thousands of women for a two-day program featuring renowned speakers, musical artists such as Sandi Patty and American Idol finalist Mandisa, well-known authors and more.
