Networking at Pasha Lounge

I’m sure you’ve heard it said before, in this town it really is all about who you know and if you’re willing to go the extra mile to make those connections worthwhile. Chas Lum the Group Sales Manager at the Spy Museum knows the importance of establishing a strong professional network. He’s the brains behind the monthly DC Tourism and Hospitality Happy Hour. The first event was hosted at Gordon Biersch and I heard nothing but wonderful things, so I headed over to the August Happy Hour at Pasha Lounge last night expecting to have a great time and to walk away with some valuable contacts.

This month’s happy hour was hosted by Traci Allen of Traci Allen Inc. and the venue, Pasha Lounge. They served up free food and $5 drink specials. There were a variety of cultural and tourism professionals in attendance ( including several memebers of my meetup group, Washington Event Professionals) enjoying a relaxed, informal opportunity to get to know others in the field. This is busy season for me, so it was really nice to go out and chat about the events I’m working on and learn about what others are doing around the city.

We had the space to ourselves. Located in the heart of Dupont, above Marrakesh Palace Restaurant, this lounge is lush and hip. The space is decked out in white lounge furniture, red walls, beaded curtains, and flat screens. We watched snippets of the football game in between chatting about projects and future networking events. This place would be great for a birthday bash, bachelor/ bachelorette party, or just a girl’s night out. I really can't say what Pasha is like on the typcial night. I've heard mixed reviews. But, I could totally see it working for a private event.

There will be another DC Tourism and Hospitality Happy Hour next month. So check back for more information.
