A Taste of the Mediterranean at FineWine.Com

Getting a little bit tipsy in the middle of the afternoon is all in a day's work for this event planning guru. At least it is on days when I have the pleasure of attending a tasting of 13 of some of the most delectable Mediterranean Wines at FineWine.Com's August Wine Festival. Saturday, FineWine.Com's Gaithersburg, MD location was filled to capacity for this FREE event. With a packed calendar of fall events in my near future, this was a wonderful opportunity to try out some great new wines before serving them up for my guests.

My favorites? I'd have to say the Burgans Albarino 2007, Spain, a light and summery gold-colored white with hints of lemon, and the Calvet-Thunevin Cuvee Constance '05 France, a sweet red, both from the Henry Wine Group. I walked out with a bottle of the Albarino.

FineWine.Com offers these tastings several times a year. Stop by their website to find out how to receive their newsletter and get updates on future events.
