2009 Inaugural Gala Info Update

***PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN PURCHASING TICKETS FROM ANY ONLINE RETAILER. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF SCAMS. BUYER BEWARE.**

For all you transplants from other states, you may also want to check out information on your home state's society website to learn more about events they'll be hosting that week. The State Society of Arizona ( guess there are no rules against them celebrating too!) is hosting their second Inaugural Gala, and the State Society of Illinois is also hosting a Gala on January 19, 2009 at the Renaissance Washington Hotel. The are a slew of other organizations hosting "unofficial" balls throughout the city and I was surprised to find some of them to be pretty reasonable. Go to Presidential-inauguration.com for a continually updated list.

Hotels are also getting in on the action with special hotel packages for the week. Check out this "Build Your Own Ball" offer from the JW Marriot on Penn Ave. It literally provides you with everything thing you need to build your own inaugural celebration! For all they're offering I'm sure it will cost you pretty penny.

If you're hoping to try your luck on free tickets to the swearing in ceremony, tickets may be provided by members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Contact your local representative for details. If you do get one, go buy yourself a lottery ticket while you're at it!
