Buyer Beware: Inaugural Swearing In Ceremony Ticket Scams

Looks like people are already trying to cash in on the excitement to gain tickets to Obama's Swearing in Ceremony and other Inauguration events. There have been reports of scammers claiming to have tickets to the Presidential Swearing in Ceremony available for sell. Apparently, only 240,000 tickets will be distributed free of charge via Members of the 111th Congress. So be aware that no website or other ticket outlet actually has inaugural swearing-in tickets to sell, regardless of what they may claim. Tickets will not be distributed to Congressional offices until the week before the inauguration and will require in-person pick-up.

For the dish straight from the horse's mouth check out yesterday's press release: JCCI: PRESS RELEASE. They also tell you who to contact to submit a formal request.

So...what's your best bet. I'd hold off on purchasing anything until the Presidential Inaugural Committee's ticketing website is up and running. Based on this release, I'm even a little skeptical about some of the well known and seemingly legit ticketing sites that are offering tickets. I've removed any suspect links from my previous post.

Buyer Beware!
